Author Interview and Giveaway! Pantheons by E.J. Dabel

I would like to welcome E.J. Dabel, author of Pantheons to Shadow Kisses today for an author interview and eBook Giveaway! Read after the interview to enter in the raffle for your copy of Pantheons!

Thank you for stopping by Shadow Kisses Book Reviews! First off, how has your week been?
You’re welcome! My week has been extremely busy but very good! Thanks for asking, and hope you also had a good week!

Tell us about your resent books.
My first ebook Pantheons was released this past January. It’s a YA series focused primarily on mythology. Isaiah Marshall, the hero of our story is an orphan and the leader of the Redrovers, which consists of his friends Jeremy, Monty, and Pipsqueak. Isaiah is also the son of the Greek god Zeus, but unlike Hercules and all his other half siblings, he is the one who is destined by prophecy to bring an end to his father’s tyrannical rule and take over as the new king of the Olympians. But Isaiah is unaware of this while he’s on the streets. One day he and his friends follow the arrogant Jason Ollopa and trespass into Kaliber Academy. But they get in way over their heads when Principal Webb enrolls them into the school. It is here that Isaiah discovers that he is a god, and that the gods of every Pantheon have been stripped of their spiritual bodies and given mortal, teenage bodies. Isaiah will have to deal with, not only the Greek gods, but the Norse, Celts, Egyptians, Hindu, Aztecs, Asian, Babylonians, Native American Indians, and the Finnish in order to win the greatest of all prizes…the Dominion!

My second ebook Albino will be released next month. The story centers around Albino, a white mouse with eyes as red as cherries. He lives on a farm with the farmer William Springer, eating lots of cheddar cheese. When the street urchin Darl kidnaps him and throws him into a raging river to drown he wakes up and finds himself in a world unlike anything he could ever imagine. Things are in turmoil in the world of Nothengarrd. The ancient and cruel rats called the Ma’aldee are on the move. The Spiritual Guardians of the land whisper in fear of the return of the Emperor Loucura, Lord of the Ma’aldee. Aided by an odd crow, Albino will face many perils and in the end come face to face with a thing from out of his worst nightmares. But only Albino has the power to save the land…“Albino does to woodland creatures what Lord of the Rings did for fantasy back in Tolkien’s time. In other words Albino takes woodland creatures into a story that even adults would care to read!”

If you were a god, which one would you be?
I’d be Isaiah Marshall for sure. I really like his powers and being the hero of the story couldn’t be all that bad, or could it?

Albino is filled with talking, walking animals! Do you have any pets of your own?
No, I don’t. But when my brothers Les and I were little boys we had two dogs one named Mickey (after Mickey Mouse), and the other Rocky (after Rocky Balboa). Then several years later we found a pregnant cat and we called her Mommy Elita (after the female robot Elita One from the classic transformers cartoon). She had nine kittens…mmmh…let me see if I can remember all of their names: Frosta, Pink Nose, Wild-cat, Rainbow, and I think I forget the rest. When I talk to Les and David I’m going to have to ask them if they remember the rest of the others

What inspires you in your writing?
There are many things, but I would have to say the most important is my love for stories.

What is the most exciting thing about being an author?
When a fan emails you and tells you that he/she was deeply moved by your stories

If you transport yourself into any book, which would it be?
It would definitely be Pantheons.

Your house is burning down and you can only grab three things....what are they?
My wife, my son, and the bible my father gave me on my birthday back in 1995.

What was a mistake you made that you wish you hadn't, but were glad you were able to learn from?
My mistake…I was born three years after J.R.R. Tolkien died and did not get to personally meet him so I could license out his work and adapt it into graphic novels. I’m glad to learn that nothing is perfect in this world, and that keeps things interesting.

What is your next project?
I can’t talk about it yet ;)

Anything else you would like the readers to know?
Oh yes, check out Pipsqueak HERE

More great stuff coming every week ;)

Title: Pantheons
Author: E.J. Dabel
Genres: YA, Fantasy, Mythology
On the streets, they call fifteen year old orphan Isaiah Marshall the “Indestructible Diamond”. Isaiah is the leader of the “Redrovers”, a group of teenage misfits consisting of his friends Jeremy, Monty, and Pipsqueak, but when they trespass into “Kaliber Academy” to get even with the arrogant Jason Ollopa, they are in way over their heads.

Principal Webb enrolls them into the High School and Isaiah soon learns about the existence of the gods of the Ancient World. Because the gods have refused to fight the last War for fear of the Mysterious Dark, the Powers-that-Be have stripped them of their spiritual bodies and given them mortal, teenage forms.

Isaiah discovers he's not only a god, but that he's the child of the Greek goddess Metis, the son destined to overthrow his cruel and sadistic father Zeus, the Darkener of the Sky, and become the greatest god in all the Pantheons.

Isaiah is thrown into a world where the democratic Olympians, war-mongering Norse, Gothic Celts, firstborn Egyptians, the enlightened Hindu, the animal-like Aztecs, the martial artist Asians, the intelligent Babylonians, the great spirits of the Native American Indians, and the fierce Finnish will war against one another for the greatest of all prizes: the Dominion.
