It's finially here! The From Love & Pain Blog Tour Kick-Off Post. Read after my mini review and interview with the author to find out where you can get the book, and enter in a giveaway for some fabulous author Swag and a print copy of the book :)

Title: From Love & Pain
Author: H.A. Caine
Genre(s): Romance, Suspense
My Rating:
29 year old Adrian ran away from an imprisoning and abusive household at the age of 19. For years he ran, living on the streets and in shelters, taking crappy jobs to save a little money. Ten years of struggling and now he is a successful partner of a security company. Under the guise of running the security company, Adrian and his best friend and the people who work for them help others who live unfortunately. Like Adrian, not one of his employees have a nice past. They're all running from something, never letting their guards down and they don't want others to suffer as they have. But Adrian makes the mistake of falling in love with a young man when he's 27. For a while, he gets to experience what it's like to be a normal man. He never thought he could be happy, but Jaxon makes him the happiest man in the world. Only it can't last and Adrian is forced to leave or risk Jaxon's life. But his demons caught up with him long before he realized and now no ones safe. Can Adrian save Jaxon before it's too late? And can Jaxon forgive him for walking away?

Want a story that has everything?
Action, adventure, a dark past, happy moments, suspenseful moments, and best of all... sexy moments!
Then add From Love & Pain to your "To-Read" shelf today :)
Caine has done a wonderful job of making a memorable story that you won't want to end. Everyone loves to read about love but it is very rare when you get to read about a different kind of love. Adrian is a man, who falls in love with a man....for some, this is a touchy subject but I think we all need to learn about what kinds of love are out there....isn't love what we all strive for in our lives?

The Book addresses some very important issues that are present in the world today, one of these being abuse. If you have followed my blog for awhile then you know that I am a very strong advocate against abuse and bullying. As a victim myself, I am drawn to books that address these issues and there is nothing I love more then seeing how the main character rises above their trials.

I don't want to give to much of the story away but reviews are raving about this book and after reading the synopsis, I think you will already be hooked to find out more about Adrian and his life.

Read below for an excerpt from the book and interview with the author.

About the Author

H. A. Caine lives in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York. She has hopes of becoming a great writer and one day opening her own bakery. She even has the name and layout already decided. Among other writing projects she's working on her very own first series, Boys in Love. The first book, Letting Go, will be available later this year.

She enjoys reading and has a passion for writing. But more than anything, she loves hearing from her readers.

Thank you for stopping by Shadow Kisses Book Reviews! Fist off, how has your week been?
Thanks for having me! My week's been great. I've been writing a lot, trying my hand at comedy, a place I've never ventured before. I think I may be getting the hand of it (yay me!)

What inspires you to write?
I've always written. I used to do poetry, mostly angsty (kinda goes with being a teenager, lol) but then I got addicted to reading YA paranormal series and historical romance(Brenda Bryce) and it kind of took off from there. I tried writing paranormal for teens, since that's what got me started, but after the first sixty pages, my story stalled. That and I gave the notebook I'd written in to a friend and never got it back. So I tried romance but it was still a bit iffy. Finally, I discovered gay romance and read dozens of ebooks and decided to write my own.
And now here I am.

If you could live in any book, which would it be?
Ah, well. It would have to be a mix. I want the paranormal open-minded human society from The Morganville Vampire series The glass house of Twilight saga (it's beautiful) and the close-knit-almost-family community of Cattle Valley series. That would be my perfect world, I think.

Tell us about your book?
From Love and Pain is about Adrian, a merc/security person who has spent almost the last decade of his life running from his abusive uncle.
I can't really go into it without revealing too many details. It's a gay romance centered around the love between Adrian and the partner he left, Jaxon. It focuses on the strength they receive from each other, even separated and how that strength can give you the power to overcome your fears and save the one you love more than life itself.

What is the best thing about being an author?
I would have to say getting to share all the crazy ideas and characters that run around in our head. And knowing that our readers enjoy our stories. That's the real prize for me.

What is your next project?
Currently, I'm working on two projects.
Second Time Around is a short story with a concept I haven't tried yet and will be released at the end of this month, I just have to touch it up a bit.
Letting Go is the first book in a series I'm writing. It'll be out later this year. It's a bestfriends-to-lovers story but it doesn't happen as easily as those kind of stories usually do. It's more in depth and the focus isn't on just the MCs but their family and friends as well. I'm really getting into it, in fact most nights I've got Danny or Timmy screaming at me to make them do this or that. It really is tiring but I love it :)

Is there anything else you would like the readers to know?
Well, readers. I really do love hearing from you guys and I enjoy talking to you immensely. Some of you really crack me up. Thanks for taking a chance on a new author like me!

Excerpt From the Book
Jaxon laughed softly as he remembered the fun night they had after dinner that day. When they had awakened the next day they were both covered in ingredients needed to make perfect banana splits and the hardwood floor was covered with chocolate and caramel syrup. It had taken them hours to clean the whole mess, but neither one complained, remembering the night before.
It still hurt Jaxon when he thought of Adrian's disappearance. That night Adrian had told Jaxon that he loved him too so he knew it wasn't that, that had scared him off. But he knew Adrian well enough to know that he had a reason for what he had done.
Jaxon only wished Adrian had taken the time out to tell him what that reason was. He would’ve done everything in his power to help the man he loved. There wasn't a day that went by that Jaxon didn't miss him. He knew that no matter what happened he would always love Adrian.
And he knew that where ever Adrian was a part of him still loved Jaxon, too.
